Yes it should work just fine.. If you really want performance boost and overall system speed boost get a SSD drive... VERY Fast. Just get a big one if you want it to last for a long time..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Make sure that the image is bootable. From the boot menu on your laptop, choose the bootup from Flash Drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would try booting up with a Windows installation disk that matches the windows installed on the computer, and if you used Windows to make a system backup image on your external HDD, you could restore that image by choosing "Repair this computer" from the first installation screen that comes up, and follow the option to restore from system backup. If you used a 3rd-party backup and restore software, you may have to install Windows first, then install the 3rd-party backup and restore software, then restore the files on your external HDD. Hope this helps!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Do you know if your USB drive is bootable? You are correct that you will need to boot up something that will see both drives and do the restore. Most backup software has the ability to burn a bootable recovery CD or DVD. The CD will see both drives and allow you to restore from the backup.
