“Does this drive (the internal hdd) have a standard SATA port? Western digital passport drives do not have proprietary Western digital only Port which means if the drive fails and requires recovery that the only place you can send the drive is WD.”

Yes, these have standard SATA drives with a usb interface card connected to it. Many users often remove the shroud and usb card and use it as an internal sata drive. However, it is always possible that WD can change the design, but my last one was a SATA drive.
