USB 3.0. However, I bought it for my 2018 iMac -- I would not recommend this regardless - first you have to reformat the drive - then there is no WD backup utility for Mac and automated backups don't work with TimeMachine on this drive....the first backup you kick off runs....then the drive goes to sleep at random times and backups fail. This happens with all of the Mac power save features turned off as well as the WD drive sleep turned off. I've seen I work for a few automated backups and then fail for no apparent reason. Known issue - if I could return it I would - going to have to contact WD - huge pain.

I have always purchased externals that have already been set up to work on my Mac. Can I, by mistake, format my internal hard drive and loose everything when I format this WD Easystore Desktop backup?
