I am not sure. But I had GOOGLED "USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0" and found info that refers to the MAC as well as windows platforms. Good luck.

Hi Dexter I have a 2017 Mac Book Air and it is compatible. I bought one to try it’s out and liked it so I bought 2 more to store other projects. Good value when on sale and does the job. I hope this helps
