Size vs. Storage Capacity, What's the best for you
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WD (Western Digital) has always made good products, and now they are moving in on Samsungs & Sandisks territory of USB Memory Cards and you can't blame them, they are cheaper and easier to make then Hard Drives or Solid State Drives and the profit margin is significantly higher, thus the recommendation to wait for "SALES" and even then as you go up in size, the value becomes something to consider. For example a 256GB SSD can be had for around $25-$30, where as the same size flash drive is currently ON SALE for $32.99, and then when you step up into the 512GB Flash Drives you are going to exceed $84.99 to $149.99, where on the opposite side of the fence you can get a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD for $99 to $109 and lets not even get into comparing 1TB USB Flash Drives as they can go as high as $499.99, were as you can get a high quality brand like Samsung or SanDisk for $179.99 to $259.99 for a 2TB, and so there are still some pricing issues to be aware of but basically the bottom like is this, do you want to purchase a smaller, easy to carry or transport USB Flash drive, BUT PAY A HIGHER PRICE, OR do you want to buy a External SSD that will typically give you 2 to 8 times the storage capacity for the price and allow slightly more flexibility. For example, i have noticed that many Blu Ray Players, even ones made in 2019-2020 dont support more then a 32GB or 64GB USB Flash Drive BUT they for some reason DO recognize and support a 1TB, 2TB, and even one of my 3 year old Sony $99 Blu Ray Players will recognize a 4TB external SSD or HDD but that same $99 Sony Blu Ray Player will only recognize a 64GB USB Flash Drive, hence my next order of a Sony 1000Xe Blu Ray Player, which according to the specifications is still maxed out at 128GB USB, but will accept much larger USB SDD's and USB HDD's and with that said, it is up to you to decide in paying more for less but getting it in a slightly smaller package is worth the money to you. It should also be noted that many newer External SSD's and even external HDD's have shrunk to a smaller size due to advances in memory chip and controller technology as well as on HDD's higher capacity spindles allowing for smaller drives, and with that i leave you to make up your mind as to which is best, as for warranty, the cell type memory that both USB Flash, and NVMe or SSD drives are based on DOES degrade, so check the amount of read/write times or manufactures suggested hours of operation on the drives you are looking at but as far as this WD 128GB for the $15.99 plus tax Black Friday Sale price, it was pretty much a no brainer, after all, these days what tech can you get for under $20 that you can actually use everyday? And that's the VipersHardware tip and take on this drive, Enjoy and Happy Tech Hunting

Quality with convenience
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast, easy, and convenient. The plastic casing is sturdy and has not broken while being toted around in my pocket. It has the quality I expect from a WD product.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Navy blue is my absolute favorite color. Just like the flash drive in the picture. The one I received was sky blue.

Slow Slow Slow
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, you get a lot of space for a flash drive, but nothing is a free ride. It may be classified as USB 3.0, but it preforms on par with a USB 2.0 on every computer I have tried. I found it only gets between 2-7MB/s transfer speed in write. Read speeds go from 10MBs to 100MB/s but often average around 20MB/s.

Q: QuestionI am needing to put many family genealogy pictures in folders and label family names to pictures then save to which ever is best. Do I need to use a disk usb or sd and which one will hold the most pictures.
Asked by Bear.
- A:Answer It depends on how many files, and what size you need to save - and what size storage product you choose. No matter what you choose - be very sure to make at least 2 separate copies of important files such as these, using 2 pieces of storage media. I have had SD cards, external disk drives, and USB flash drives all go bad! I wouldn't trust any one of them to be my only safe copy.

Q: Questioni want to download the photos from my phone. i DONT want to put them on my computer as my storage is full on it. can this device just hold the photos in it? do i have to upload them to a computer to save them?
Asked by sarah.
- A:Answer You do not have to load the pictures onto your computer, but you will need to use a computer as a "middle man" or connector to load the pictures onto the flash drive. Just plug your phone into the computer with your USB cord, and plug the USB in the computer as well.

Q: QuestionWhat does this mean? USB 3.0 interface, for a fast connection backward compatible with 2.0?
Asked by Rich.
- A:Answer This means it will work in a USB 2.0 port... but remember it can only go as fast as the lowest port speed. So if you put a 3.0 USB (also known as SuperSpeed USB) which has a maximum bandwidth rate of 5 gbps (gigabits per second). That translates to 640 MBps (megabytes per second)—ten times faster than USB 2.0 (aka Hi-Speed USB) in a 2.0 port that has the capability of a 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps) that is as fast as it will go.

Q: QuestionIs this a Western Digital or Sandisk?
Asked by zzzz.
- A:Answer The flash drives I received had the Western Digital logo. I too was confused as to which brand I was actually buying, but an Internet search revealed that in 2016, Western Digital purchased SanDisk, so now, the flash drives are the same regardless of the name on the package. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionI just uploaded 7000 photos. Now all I see are icons and not the actual picture when I open the file and choose view icon. How can I see the photos like all my other flash drives were able to do. These are all jpegs.
Asked by Diane.
- A:Answer Is there a check mark next to each filename? Perhaps you only uploaded shortcuts, not the actual files.

Q: QuestionNEED STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO STORE MY PICTURES FROM MY COMPUTER TO THIS FLASH DRIVE
Asked by INSTRUCTIONS.
- A:Answer If you have Windows 10, you can go to File Explorer then go to Pictures which are under This Pc. Your WD storage drive should be connected in one of your USB slots and the folder should be pop up with space to put your pictures in. In Pictures, you can select all or drag and drop or simply send to truly get the picture off your computer to put what you want in the WD storage folder.

Q: QuestionWill this item work to download pictures off of my iPhone 8plus?
Asked by Nana16.
- A:Answer Please ignore the user that mentioned a micro-SD slot. This Best Buy listing is for a Western Digital flash drive. Also, iPhones do not have micro-SD slots. A USB flash drive, like this WD model, cannot plug directly into the Lightning port of an Apple device. You would have to transfer the pictures from your iPhone 8+ to your computer first, then back them up onto this flash drive from your computer. If you are looking for the convenience of something that can plug directly into your iPhone, look for the SanDisk iExpand. Best Buy does sell them. They come in a few different memory sizes. They have a lightning plug on one end and a USB on the other. You can plug it directly into your iPhone and use their app to back up the photos to it.
