Yes, as long as you have a USB port. It will be faster with a USB-3 connection (many of the laptops are USB-2).

Yes. If your laptop has 2.0 USB ports transferring the data to the external hard drive will take so time. Whereas, if your computer has 3.0 USB ports the speeds will be incredibly faster. I use this for my Microsoft surface pro and the external device is amazing too have. Hope this helps answer your question
