QuestionCan it be hooked up to a Sony Handcam camcorder to back up videos on the camcorder. Its and older model Sony HDR-cx130, but I am able to hook an old western digital portable harddrive to it and it works.. but that one is now full so I need something new

- Answer Sure -- do it thru iTunes like you would with an iPhone. Take a backup of yourMacBook on the backup drive and restore it to your new MacBook Pro -- not difficult at all. The drive comes with the appropriate cable which will plug into both computers. Get the drive MAC version to make it simpler it's worth the difference in price.

QuestionCan backups be manual instead of automatic, continuous or scheduled backup? I want to be able to back up, then unplug the drive, to keep safe against ransomeware, etc.

- Answer Yes, on your computer you have this option to set the day and time your back begins. You can do a back up now and not set it up on a schedule. I set mine for Sunday after 10:00 pm. I log onto my computer before I go to bed and the program runs backup. When I get up Monday morning I unplug and store in travel bag. The system will go into sleep mode and the back up will still be completed. You can always double check by going into the menu to see the back up files on this unit.

Questionok i have upgraded my hopper with Dish network to the next hopper, tot a hopper 2. I want to take the movies off the old DVR before i ship it back and it says i need External Hard Drive and it must have a USB 2.0 compatible cable and a single disk drive.

- Answer That drive is very compact but huge capacity. A movie takes about 2 GB ( 2 hour) so the 1 GB drive will hold a good deal.

- Answer If the software was an image file (ISO) or all the software was in a folder that can be installed from that folder, then yes. If the software is installed on your computer but you have no other backup beside that then no. Option 2 is to make a backup of your full computer onto this drive then you can use that snapshot to recover your drive in case it crashes or get corrupt. Hope that helps.

- Answer You would have to partition the drive and make one partition a bootable one. It's cheaper to just buy a 4gb flash drive but each to their own.

- Answer Hi, Yes, you can absolutely transfer photos between two PC's using this drive. Just connect the WD Easystore to the first computer, copy the photos on the drive, then safely disconnect it. Next, plug the drive into the second computer and copy the photos over. The drive works like a large USB flash drive, so no special software is required- just drag and drop your files.

QuestionThe specs say "Downloadable NTFS driver to read / write on macOS 11+ without the need to reformat." How do I download and install the NTSF driver? I use Windows, but I need to copy files from a Mac just this one time, so I prefer not to reformat. THANKS!

Please refer to the below mentioned link for the instruction to download and install the driver. https://support-in.wd.com/app/answers/detailweb/a_id/34871/ Moreover, We would like to inform you that we do not recommend the driver but to format the drive in Exfat for a permanent fix if you wish to use the drive on both Mac and Windows. The driver may get removed if OS gets an update but as you just need to copy from Mac one time, you can install the driver on Mac.
