Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.using a program like Macrium Reflect free you could do all that. But you should only get a drive that matches closely the size of your systems hard drive. as you won't be able to use the extra space for anything else.

Please try again later.I’m no tech but to my understanding you can create an image (copy) or a back up of your OS (Operating System) Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10 with about any Hard Drive, disc (CD of DVD) or Flash Drive (Thumb Drive/Memory Stick) as long as you have enough space, preferably 32 GB that can cost as little as $5.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've set my backup to save the program files and in a separate folder I backup my data, photos, music, jobs, etc. You can recover from the WD drive. However, I recommend creating a recovery disk or memory stick if you ever need to totally recover your Windows from a bad hack, virus, or malware.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The software that comes with the drive makes it easy to do a full image of your hard drive and back it up. Windows 10 has a built in backup function that will create an image of the whole drive and place it on an external drive like this one. Note that if your backup image is larger than 1/2 of the backup drive (If your laptop has more than 2GB of used space in your case), it won't work because it expects to keep more than one copy of your data on the backup drive. I couldn't find a way around this so I installed a different backup program myself. You won't be able to use the WD software to backup one 4GB drive onto another for example (which is where I got in trouble...).
