Hello Robinhood, yes it will work fine with USB 2.0 ports (albeit a wee slower but the average person using older tech wouldn't notice the difference anyways). I actually have it hooked up to an older micro-desktop that I've tricked out to serve as a backup and tertiary storage hub and no problems with speed upon access or writing files. Re: WD reliability, the HD playing field amongst the brands has become fairly level over the past few years. If you read up you will find the different brands all source from the same 3 manufacturers. All have chances to fail and unless you want to put out $$$ for tippy top of the line, just make sure you keep the firmware updated, run occasional diagnostics, and keep 2 *different* units as backup. (Never buy 2 HDs from same brand at same time - you want different batches, different manufactured times, so as to avoid 2 lemons from same batch). Hope this helps :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.works fine with usb 2.0 just works at usb 2.0 speed witch is slower then usb 3.0 speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It says it is backward compatible to USB 2.0 so I would answer YES.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine works with 1.0 2.0 and 3.0, I don't have 3.0 on my computer but my first one is full 3.8 TB The female USB port is blue on all 3.0 I was told that when these companies come out with new capacity that they have higher failure rates than products that have been out for a year or two. Personally I lost 3 Seagate drives before I discovered that. Have had first 4tb WD for five years now, working great. Bought at Best buy
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is USB 3.0 drive but work with usb 2.0 at usb 2.0 speed. Drive life is just a luck. Some last for long and some fails prematurely
