you could use it for cctv.. but it would burn the drive up in no time. and no it can not be used for dtv storage. you need a drive with ESata connections for that. and this drive does not have that

(it contains a wd-blue drive inside an enclose) and for the dtv.. i have the H23 model. (the last stand alone model before they went to genie and NO it will not work with mine. as you need a ESATA connection and this does not have one. however i am not sure if it works with the genie or not.. but i doubt it. and again it would burn the drive up after a few months even if it did..
