This drive connects to your PC via a USB connector. To backup photos from your phone, you'd have to transfer them to your PC first. Every hard drive has the potential to fail (become unreadable), and this probability increases over time. However, WD is one of the leading manufacturers when it comes to hard drive reliability, and I would recommend their drives over most of their competitors.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you could transfer them to an external hard drive, SD card, or CD/DVD.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They all crash sooner or later. I had three back up and two died with in weeks of each other. Thank goodness the third had 7/8 of my info.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The drive will not crash as long as it is not smacked around while it's on. When it's off dropping it on the floor from a pretty good height like 4 ft might damage it too. There is a spinning hard drive in there that gets damaged very easily from shock when it's on especially if it's reading or writing data from it. Otherwise seems to be pretty darn good
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes this would be perfect. It also has software for automatic backups too. The chances of this crashing is small just be sure not to drop it because it is a mechanical drive not an SSD.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The chance this will crash is HIGH in comparison to other WD drives, and even those of other brands. I've personally had THREE of this model FAIL. If I were you, I would AVOID this model and go with the mainline My Passport model of the same capacity. It is FAR more durable, but, as said by others, no drive will last forever. Whatever drive you get, consider uploading the contents to a cloud service like Google Drive too. The EasyStore won't even come close to lasting forever, though. Maybe not even through the warranty period.
I would recommend:
