Yes it does work. I have one hooked to my xbox series x and it runs just fine.

Am not sure as I purchased the SSD drive for my XBOX ONE X, which has performed flawless. I moved all my internal games to the external. This was the perfect solution to avoid taking the system apart, voiding the extended warranty, and increase the performance from my internal spindle drive. This should work on the Series X|S systems; however, am uncertain about the bus speed across the USB. It may be a good fit for the less demanding games, but I would be more inclined to get the expansion card which is 1TB. The expansion card will meet the temporary capacity need and similar performance of the internal SSD.
