• Yes... As long as the folders on the one Desktop are shared with the Desktop that has the device attached... If you are asking whether you can take an external drive from one Desktop to another, yes, you can do that too...

• If you make seperate partitions, it would be very easy it essentially makes it into two seperate drives. Google how to partition a harddrive if you aren't familiar. It's fairly simple.
