• Yes, I use it for both my mac and my wifes windows 8 machine...Time machine uses it seamlessly.

• You cannot use the same external drive to backup a Mac and Windows PC. The file systems on a Mac (HPFS) and Windows PC (NTFS) are different and the drive must be formatted specifically to meet the Mac or PC standards. It is best to have one backup drive for each.

• Yes. Check the documentation. AFAIK, This drive can serve as a backup drive for Windows and a backup drive for Mac via Time Machine.

• Yes, according to the literature that I have, the My Cloud will back up Macs or PC's. The setup software takes you through the procedure. It is quick and painless. On your Mac all you have to do is select 'use drive' and select the My Cloud'. Easy. Have fun!

• You can certainly use a Backup Software in your PC or Mac and point it to save the backup file in this NAS.
