I'm not sure what a "divice" is ... I suspect you misspelled "device". That said, the only way to download movies is to have an internet connection. This "device" must be installed in a computer that is connected to the internet in order to download movies. No, you do not need wifi. A direct connection from your internet modem to your computer will work just as well (and sometimes better).
