If you format the WD - My Cloud 3TB Personal Cloud Storage External Hard Drive (NAS) as NTFS you'll be able to access the data from both Windows and Mac.

This drive is not affected by Operating system and can be read by anything from Windows to Mac to Linux. When backing up just make sure to copy the data files, do not create a backup image because that is only used to restore the computer after replacing a failed hard drive.
