Yes all you have to do is plug in an external hard drive and set it up to do backups, if you want to look up instructions it is called WD snapshot.

I have two NAS devices and I have them stored in two separate locations in my house. I use one as a network drive and the other as a back up. I use a program (free) called synctoy from Microsoft that I set up to once a day compare the contents of both drives and make any changes. Kind of like a cheap RAID system. Works great for me.

Please try again later.have a look at FREE NAS.. it is a freebsd based storage system that you have to build yourself.. if you have an extra pc sitting as a dust piece why not repurpose it.. i would also recommend using western digital red or purple label drives.. as these are made for high endurance and high loads.. its flexibility is unrivaled for free vs buying a premade NAS system from a store. most builds can be done around the $500-750 range. depending on what you have available..
