My Cloud is a Nas that you can hook up to any router to back-up, upload, download and even stream file wireless over the internet. This means that you can back up multiple device to this storage over wifi without need of cables or being physically connected to the device. My passport is a portable drive that needs to be connected to your computer or laptop in order to back up your data. It would not allow to remote access to your data and you will need to be physically hooked up to the device to transfer data.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My cloud is only accessible thru network setup, wired thru routers. Much more than a USB hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.PLUS IS THAT IS WIRELEES MINUS WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF INTERNET DOES NOT WORK
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My Passport is connected directly to your computer for backup. Depending if it's USB 3 it will be faster. The My Cloud is connected to your network via Gigabit ethernet (if you have a router or switch that is also gigabit). That means multiple devices can connect to it. It also supports DLNA so you can play media on DLNA compatible devices over the network. My Cloud also can be set up to allow you to connect to it from anywhere using apps on your computer or smartphone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. From what I can tell, My Passport is a USB hard drive meant to be connected to a single computer. It could be shared, but the computer it is plugged into must be on for it to be accessed by other computers. My Cloud plugs into your network via Ethernet and is standalone. It is not reliant on any computer for it to be accessible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The personal cloud is a network shared storage device. This allows the device to be shared by devices on the network. The standard passport drive is a USB device that must be plugged into a computer in order to be used.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Plus - Super easy to set up on a server and access the same files from multiple computers.. good for family photos and videos... Minus - Can't really access the drive without a network router... You can't just take it with you and access it with a laptop...
