The drive should work fine on an older PC so long as it has a spare USB port. Please note that the transfer performance speed for the hard drive depends on the speed of the USB port it is connected to. On an 8 year old PC you will have USB v1 (11mb/sec) or v2 (480mb/sec). This drive is able to transfer at much much faster speeds when connected to a USB v3 port.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have any problems using one on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or Windows 10.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Speed will vary with an older computer and wifi speed.. Great product to own.. Does exactly what I anticipated it would do!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am using this for my Mac book, Windows 7, Android mobile and I phone. Usable everywhere. Coming to the point of system performance, I feel that it is to think about internet speeds rather than the system configuration.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it supports Windows 7. It exposes drive shares using Windows file sharing (SMB), Apple's file sharing protocol, NFS, and FTP. It should work with all versions of Windows, even pre-Windows XP using an NFS driver
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the idea of a NAS drive is to shift some of the processing demands from your interface box to the machine running the NAS drives. For example, in this little drive you will find a Linux operating system that has many features << if you are familiar with that ... and if you get this, it may be worth learning Linux>> With that in mind, the process associated with this drive is a bit under powered, and the operating system pulls-up short in many ways. Net: Consider going for the Mirror, or one of the better drives, and get the better processing power. Then back-up and the like can be done without ever using a cycle on your PC. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will work just fine. It will show up as a network device. You can also map network drives in Windows.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will "work" but consider why you want a NAS. Then consider getting a real NAS server (even a cheap Samba) or can you hang a usb drive off your router? You might find that to be a better alternative. Check other reviews of people that have USED THIS FOR A WHILE vs paid reviewers / shills for WD. (anyone that gives this drive a glowing review hasn't lived with it and really stressed it); but that is just my thinking.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nope, you should not have any issues with the OS. Your processor might be the only thing during syncs. For performance, you might want to consider doing the sync at nights to reduce the performance impact during the day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This device is compatible with Windows 7 and will work as it should.
