If you have this drive mapped to your computer and are using it to store files then yes crypto or ransomware viruses can encrypt your network drive. I have seen it all the time. but if you use a backup solution such as Veeam End Point Manager and do not have the drive mapped to your computer then no they cannot. Ransomware cannot encrypt what it cannot see.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are logged onto it I assume it could happen if you sync files. I had a dropbox account that I shared with a coworker of all his wedding pics. He opened a ransomware virus and it hit my dropbox, but only his folder. Glad I had all of his pics on a local backup, not synced to dropbox.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, as long as the achievement me infected doesn't have an active network connection to the device. However, if you files are encrypted and a sync runs I would expect the synced field to be encrypted.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes if the data on your WD MyCloud drive gets encrypted do to an encryption virus it will sync them to the cloud as well. I am not sure if there is "shadow copy" on the web or not. I do believe that Microsoft OneDrive has a way to go back to recent files but I am not sure about WD MyCloud yet. Might be worth some research. Hope this helps. Regards, Valsar
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the files are corrupted, then unless you have some form of firewall / antivirus installed that checks your files before they are 'transferred' or copied; then the answer is yes they, along with any other files you may have on the drive will become infected also.
