• Nothing outside of what Direct TV will work. They have it locked so you have to use DIrect TV's product.

• loaded question. first, Directv dvr does not support external hard drives. now, that being said, you can upgrade the internal hard drive but you better know what you are doing. if all you are doing is looking to provide a network drive for digital media then you should not be using the dvr as the connection point.
