Q: QuestionIf I use the unit in a RAID 5 configuration, how much usable memory will I have? Also, is it possible to swap out some of the drives in the future with larger capacity hard drives to increase capacity of unit? I was able to do that with my DROBO NAS.
Asked by photofan.
- A:Answer Hi photofan, RAID5 with each disk being 8TB has a a total capacity of around 24TB with 22.35TB being usable. The multi-bay My Cloud family of devices offers the RAID roaming functionality that allows the option to replace, move, or swap hard disks from one My Cloud to another My Cloud device without data loss. The drives can be swapped from one device to another due to many reasons: Hardware issues on the device, upgrading to a new device or expanding capacity. Users and devices settings must be configured again. For more information you can follow the link given below. https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7721 Need Help?
