From a Windows and Mac perspective, once configured and a share is setup you can view it in File Explorer/Finder... and work from it like any other local hard drive including opening, editing and saving documents to it.

You need to connect the device to the router using an ethernet cable and the computer needs to be on the same network, if you want to access the device on the local network. You could access the device remotely on mycloud.com. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can use the My Cloud NAS for working documents. It may be slower than using documents on your local hard drive , or cloud storage depending on your server and if you are using it in a mirror RAID configuration.

You would still have to either up load or down load the file to your computer to work on that file. It's function is to be your private cloud to store and backup files.
