RAID 1 is mirroring, meaning that each drive in the array would be identical. If one drive goes down, it can be replaced, and initialized. In a nutshell, yes, they are hot-swapable. The whole point of RAID is to provide for redundancy. However, if you were using this device as a 4TB storage location, without utilizing RAID, if a drive went down, you would lose everything on it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will hot swap if one drive fails. Auto-copies when the new drive is initialized and you are back to full strength. Faster RAID O configuration is possible, but of course much more risky for data failure.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later."a raid were to go"? If one drive fails, the other is a mirror, which is why it's called that. It is possible to configure as a full 4TB, so you don't have the security of a RAID array.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Good luck with that ;)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the raid controller goes bad there is a high chance your data gets lost as the controller is what keeps track of where the data is. There are recovery services that may get your data back, but at what cost. Use the cloud to backup your files to the cloud where there is more protection against data loss if your data is that important.
