• I would not use SSD in a cloud storage. You don't need that kind of speed from it. And the cost per GB is way to high on a SSD. Us Western Digital Red

• I haven't taken it apart, but I expect that you can swap with an SSD. The connections inside the case are the same for hard drive and SSD...just as they are in a computer. The challenge is mounting the SSD in the case because most SSDs are the smaller 2.5" form factor.
