- Answer 2-2TB drives. One copies the info from the other, so in effect you can only backup 2TB. while the second drive copies the first.

QuestionWhat happens if one of the drives fails? Does WD sell drives that can be purchased and swapped out with the failed drive? Does the software notice the new drive and continue working seamlessly? Any other things to consider?

- Answer The software does notice if one of the two drives fails and indicates it to you with a light on the front of the unit. Each of the two drives is very easily swapped out with a replacement and the unit will detect the new drive and ask if you want to mirror your remaining drive data onto the new drive. If one of the drives is dead, the second will continue to work, but without the extra layer of backup protection offered by the RAID mirror feature.

- Answer The hard drive can stand alone because it runs on your network using a ethenal cable but if you don't have a computer and or your network isn't hocked up to the internet I don't now what use this hard drive would be

- Answer You can use the mycloud app available for andorid or iOS. You can also access your shares via mycloud.com after you setup and login.

- Answer You are able to setup email notification for critical, warnings or all events. You don't need to install the application. You can run setup via browser to get it configured. Once done you are able to map it via explorer.

- Answer Yes, backups can be done at the same drive. This is what WD Cloud Mirror calls 'Internal Backups'. Just simply create a dedicated share for it. WD Cloud Mirror allows backup can be scheduled to be daily, weekly or monthly. Backup types are Copy, Synchronize and Incremental. No fees at all.

- Answer Being that you don't need to install it internally and it does show up as a drive letter in Windows, it's really an external drive anyway as it sticks out from the USB port.
