Windows 98 does not support USB 3.0 and you will possibly need drivers for the MB that will allow it to use USB2.0. Also Win 98 can see a partition that is FAT32 with a max partition size of 32GB. You will need to partition your WD 4TB so that you have a FAT 32 partition with a max size of 32GB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When you first connected your passport, were you able to download all the files? I was unable to download WD Backup, so I am wondering if you are having the same problem. I couldn't even download the file from their website. After 3 separate sessions with their support people, they weren't able to download that file, either. The only way the tech got the Passport to work was by using Acronis. Now my computer backs up to the Passport via Acronis, not their own WD backup system.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not sure if your problem is with your OS (outdated or not) or if the WD will not support your OS. Try to format your drive or check it for errors. If after checking for errors (chkdsk) it doesnt work, then you must likely will not be able to use ith with Win98. Best of luck mate.
