Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not 100% about current mobile devices. I have a "Camera Connect Kit" for the old Apple connection standard, which has a USB on the other side. At that time, it was necessary to to have an external hard drive with a separate power cable. The mobile device could not provide adequate power over USB to run the hard drive. I imagine this is still the case, but I'd have to look into it.
