Yes, I didn't need to format it. My MacBook Pro recognized it it after I plugged it into my laptop.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is. All hard drives are, but this one is already formatted in Mac OS Extended. Most drives are formatted for PCs, but the Mac can read and write to them anyway.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is, as are other non-Mac specific drives which will be seen by a Mac when plugged in. There is some Mac software included, but you may want to use disk utility to format the drive into both a Mac partition as well as an ex-Fat partitiion so you can share files with Windows and other computers. For instance, you can partition a 100GB or some other size section and have the rest as a Mac partition so you can move files back and forth between Mac and Windows or other computers. If you select ex-FAT for the other partition, you can move files bigger than 4GB, which is the limit for FAT drives.
