I believe you can unplug it, only when the system is off, and transport it and plug it into another system. It does not store any information on the console. It is the actual storage and all new files go directly to the drive, not the system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just keep it plugged in and all your games and media will run from it and be stored on it. If you are worried about losing a usb slot, you can buy a usb hub and plug it in.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can leave it plug in if you want it will just become another accessible drive
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, this adds storage to the PS4. You would only have to have it plugged into the PS4 when you’re transferring or accessing files.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has to be plugged in all the time for it to work. If you have just a C: drive on your computer and you plug this in you will see a new drive pop up and you will then have a C: and D: drive to store things on. But when you unplug it your D: drive will disappear and you won't have access to anything you stored on it until you plug it back in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
