Yes, but you probably would want to have a backup also. This should not be your only copy, I'm assuming these files are important to you. Like any hard drive internal or external they can fail at some point. I have several passports from 50Gb to this 1TB. As of yet none of them have failed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's external hard drive you can store all files from an internal computer's hard drive on it and plug it in when you need it. You can add and remove files from the Hardrive whenever it's plugged in to a computer or laptop. Think of it as a more advanced flash drive. I think it should do the trick.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it would be like carrying 1,000 1 gig flash drives.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This would be a great choice for both your files and have ample storage for a full back up of your computer, too. The contained software makes it easy and painless. You move files between drive and computer as you would with any removable drive. If your computer supports USB 3.0 the file transfer is very quick. I use several of these drives and yes, I keep my genealogy research on the drives. No worries!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes as long as you have a usb or thunderbolt supported device
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can use the Passport to store your family files as a back up, and use the same files on your internal drive. The only thing to remember is if you make changes to the files on the internal drive, you should also "Back-Up" the same files to the external drive, thus always having a current "Back-Up" on the external drive. You can do this manually, or you can have it done automatically with software. Windows has software to do that, and there are also excellent free and commercial software to handle that as well. The Passport should have also come with software to assist in automatically "Backing-Up" your data.
