Hi Peter, I had to use the WD to restore my OS in one of my computers because its internal hard drive crash. Best Buy did all the work for me. The installed the new internal drive and did all of the restorations of the OS and apps for me. Go into your computer's Control Panel and locate where you would normally create a Restore Disc for your computer. Instead of choosing to put it on a disc, you select the WD, and it copies all of the information you select, including the OS.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recommend these drives all the time to customers to do a full mirror image of a system drive. You should have no issue using the drive for this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have used this drive for system backups and system restore. Download the Acronis disk wizard tool from the WD website. IT is easy to use and as long as the back drive has more space than the drive you are backing up you should be in good shape.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It would depend on what software you would be using to create the image file. Norton Ghost can create an image file on any USB device that has enough room to store the image file.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I use it with Acronis and Veeam. Those two programs work without issue. I would assume the Windows 7/8 backup work also. It seems to work with anything.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use different software to make a system image of the computer. Norton Ghost, Windows built in "Backup and Restore" or AOMEI Backupper Standard will all work to do what you want. The drive isn't the issue, its the software for your request.
