I use it like a flash drive anyway. If you want to do this then just click on windows explorer and navigate to the hard drive and drag and drop to it ignoring the folders that are already on the hard drive. You can also backup directly to it using control panel's backup if you have a windows operating system. If you really wish to use their software that is included with the hard drive to backup your files, then using windows explorer navigate to the folders that are on the hard drive and click on the WD Apps Setup.exe file. It also has the user manual that you can read in the "user manuals" folder. Just open that and open the "ENG" folder for English. I just don't care for their software. Remember there are always updates on the windows operating system and they can interfere with any software you have on your computer- can't depend on the company that makes the hard drive to keep updates for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.make sure to install the SES driver available from the Western digital website
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You did not specify what kind of computer or operating system. I will presume a PC with a current version of Windows. First reboot your computer. If that doesn't work, then I would plug it into a different USB port. If you don't see any activity on the screen or the drive, I suspect the drive isn't functioning. But usually it's a USB issue. If you are technical, go into Device Manager and delete USB devices and reboot. Plug in your drive. USB devices will rebuilt and it should work. If not, seek professional assistance.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you don't see it in My Computer (Windows) or similar File Manger program, it is likely the driver did not install. Unplug and replug the drive with the computer on and see if you get a message advising of a problem with the Device driver. You may then need to make sure you are connected to the internet and let your computer go out on the web to find and load a driver for it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1. Check your port or ports 2. Check your cables 3. Replace Passport, if the same thing happens, there may be an issue with the computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.perhaps you need to update your motherboard drivers for USB 3.0. Or maybe it's not 3.0 compatible?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.-Check that usb light is blinking, if not try another usb port. If that still does not work then cable could be bad. -Check device manager(Right click on My Computer, Manage, Device Manager) to see if any services are unknown (this could be your HD drive). -Check WD website for software downloads, install new software, try plugging drive in again
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Go to the manufacturer's site and download the driver for it. I had to do that, and it was quick and easy to do. It appeared after loading the driver. Go to this link http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?wdc_lang=en&fid=wdsfMP_Ultra and for Windows download the SES Driver.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Try rebooting the system. Sometimes Windows has issues with external drives.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.i would try another usb port and if it did not show up again, check the status under devce manager and if no yellow prompts appear i would then try to reboot the laptop/pc while the external drive is plugged into a usb port and see if it appears after that....
