No. I would not suggest doing this. It may be technically feasible. But security cameras require a better interface speed like SATA.

Depending upon the number of cameras, the frame rate and the resolution I would not recommend this solution. You want a drive or set of drives that are SATA or eSATA attached. In larger installations you can use a NAS drive with a gigabit connection if the number of cameras allows it.

Please try again later.If your Camera systems allows you to do it, then yes. but you have to consider the speed of your computer and USB ports. as it can make slower the transfer and the recording. its better to first save it on the local HD and then transfer it on the external Storage.
