• Yes, or at least, our phones need to be in cradle. My husband and I have different phones; works for both; we have other people using ours without issues.

• Your phone does need to be in the cradle with this model... It also isn't the right choice for multiple users. I'd suggest the next step up: Wilson weBoost Drive 4G-M Cell Phone Booster Kit - 470108... Well worth the price.
