• A:Answer The weBoost is only designed to improve the cellular reception in your home. It does not interfere with or boost in-home WiFi signals. It uses a small outdoor directional antenna (normally mounted on the roof or under the eaves) to pick up the cellular signal from the best available cellular tower. Coaxial cable takes the cellular signal from the outdoor antenna to an indoor booster that amplifies the cellular signal and passes it to a small indoor antenna. Q: Question1) Can we purchase an omnidirectional antenna that will get AT&T from one tower and Verizon from another to use with this kit? 2) Can we purchase an additional fabric inside panel antenna? 3) Will either of these compromise performance?

• A:Answer Hi there! Good questions. You can purchase separate antennas, but Ontech (the installers) will just install this booster kit and not the additional accessories that you purchase since that is not included in this product. An omnidirectional antenna may be a good idea if AT&T and Verizon towers are in different directions, either that or having two directionals, aimed at the two would be fine. You can also purchase an additional fabric inside antenna, but multiple antennas (on the outside or inside) will require a splitter, which may degrade the performance of the booster, depending on the outside signal strength that the booster is receiving - which probably answers the third question. Using the components in a kit is our best recommendation since a splitter won't be required to split the signal to two inside antennas or outside antennas. The omnidirectional outside antenna might be a good idea, but in many cases, the directional antenna can still bring in the carriers needed.

Q: QuestionBest Buy advertises this product as a cell signal booster "for the entire home," but when the installer showed up he said it would only boost the signal in one room. Why the discrepancy?

• A:Answer From my experience, the signal doesn’t reach nearly as far as the theoretical maximum. I have a good signal to the couch but not the far part of the room. The Home Complete model has the farthest range when I compare products on wilsonelectronics website, and it does reach farther than the Home kit that is less expensive. The Home kit is good for one room, and since there is only a word to distinguish between the models, I think the technician didn’t know the difference. They are a third party installer. From my experience, the Home Complete reaches down the hall, and I can use it in the “kitchen” at the far wall of the main room. The original Home kit only reached a few feet no matter where I placed it.

• A:Answer The system is made out of an external antenna (placed on your roof) that is connected via a RG11 Cable to the Booster unit in your home. The Booster is then connected to an internal fabric antenna via another RG11 Cable. The Booster does require power so that is also plugged into a power outlet in your home.
