Hi, 00SB00! You can control the Window Air Conditioning anytime and anywhere you want to as long as it is plugged into the Wemo Insight Switch. All you have to make sure is that the connected device should have a mechanical switch and it should meet the 120V/15A/60Hz/1800W electrical requirement of the Wemo product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not plugged a window AC unit into one, but i don't see why it would not work. It would be GREAT to turn that AC on via your phone and have the house cool when you arrive, but not have to pay to run it all day, Good Idea!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Check the power requirements of the air conditioner and the rating on the WeMo spec sheet to be sure the WeMo can handle the load. A small AC should be fine. The next question is how the AC reacts after power has been turned off. Does it wake back up to where you had it set before the power went off or does it just power on the electronics and sit there waiting for you to tell it what to do. Newer units are “smarter” than older units, so one never knows how they will react without reading and experimenting. You can test it by unlplugging the AC while it is running....waiting 5 or 10 minutes and then plugging it back in. Does it come back on or sit there?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We use this for our radiator heater that's 1500W. It works fine. I'm sure it can handle an air conditioner.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should work just fine as long as power consumption of the air conditioner does not exceed the rating of the switch. I do believe the switch is rated at 15 amps. If the air conditioner is rated at less than 15 amps, you should be good to go. I use one of my WEMO switches to control my dehumidifier.
