Steve, hopefully I/you can use HDMI man! I'm ordering this unit because of low price, and hooking up to receiver/speakers....I'll let folks know what I think. If you just have the speakers there are cheap receivers/amplifiers out there, just a thought. Should work?

I use a sound bar with mine that connects to to TV's coaxial port on back. It also has the regular red and white RCA audio connections. If you connect a headset, the volume would still be controlled by the TV remote. The user manual is online. http://bit.ly/28IQiuU
