I've never had cable TV and when I first started using HULU it was free and with no commercials. Back then is when I tested all the set-top boxes for streaming to get what I saw on the internet on my TV. ROKU has always been the best and has always provided the MOST free content. You will need WIFI but if you decide NOT to buy any of the paid subscription plans, ROKU has the most free content of any. You can also see these on your computer or laptop free. Roku for FREE content is better than all other SMART TV devices and better than the FIre Stick or Amazon Fire TVs. The thing is you can still buy ALL OF THEM on a Roku but it's only one way. I have the first firestick ever made and now the last one. Still can't get much free stuff on those platforms. I became an Amazon Prime Member while in grad school and just kept that one. Partially because they also have free photo storage. A few years ago that was a "THING' but isn't as important now since Google Photos is free and unlimited now too. I do get my money back though when I buy sale items at Whole Foods as a PRIME membership gives you an extra 10% off any items on sale. I do the math... I make out by having the PRIME for discounts so I keep it for TV too. CRACKLE POPCORN FLIX TUBI TV VUDU YOU TUBE - surprisingly has a lot of free movies too. YouTube also has paid movies now as well. That's a partial list. GOOGLE it. What are the best 10 FREE APPS for watching/Streaming movies? Now... you won't get Game of Thrones for FREE or Star Trek CBS all access for free. But if you don't need to see everything your friends pay for, then you'll be OK and have more money with a Roku than you will with any other type of TV streaming. My mom also has a Westinghouse Roku TV and she only uses it with a MOHU LEAF antenna to watch OVER THE AIR TV. No WiFI needed at all for that. All the channels that you get with "BASIC CABLE" which are local, are totally free without internet or cable if you have an antenna. Between the antenna and Roku you can end up with a lot of stuff to watch for free and keep more of your own money.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You not pay Roku anything. The only charges are for subscription services. It operate just like a normal Roku. There is no voice search.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are some good free roku channels (apps), also some that need subscription to a TV service to get more from app. There are also paid app like netflix and iptv services if you have cut the cable tv service, but will still need internet access
