• The handle is plastic. It's made to look line metal. I have found that many items (luxury car door handles, knobs, phones, etc.) that look like metal are plastic dipped in metal or stainless steel.

• Metal. Overall this is a good thing, but if its above the main burner like it is at our house, it can get slightly hot to the touch if that burner is running.
