There is a metal rack that should be removed (no screws, just lifts out) when it is being used as a Microwave. I use mine as a Microwave MUCH more often than a Convection oven, so I only put the rack in when I need it. Hope this helps!

When you want to use it as a convection oven, just insert a rack that sets on the carousel and place the dish you're cooking on it. This raises it up so the hot air can circulate all around your dish and cook it faster.
