• No. I have it installed to recirculate the air since my kitchen doesn't have an outside vent. There are three options for installation: 1. Recirculating (which how it is set from the factory). 2. top venting 3. back venting

• No, you don't have to do anything. It comes with the vent manifold set to push the vented air out of the Top Front vent. (Right above the door) There are instructions to change the vent manifold if so desired so the air can be directed to the rear of the Micro or straight up into an existing or newly constructed outside air vent pipe. The vent manifold is at the Top Rear 3 inches of the unit in the center.

• No you don't have to vent to the outside. The microwave actually comes set up to vent back into the kitchen.
