4 speeds. High is fairly loud, but moving that much air is - it is really moving. There are two installation options, vent into room and vent through wall to exterior. Mine is installed with internal venting, so I am sure the noise I get is the maximum when on High. Low setting is really quiet. Neat feature I didn't notice prior to installing is the fan can be set to sense range top heat and will turn on vent when it senses heat.

This model offers a 4 variable fan-speed settings that lets you match the right amount of ventilation to the dish being prepared. It also has an auto turn on, high speed at 140 degrees F.
