Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Pete, there are several families of stainless steels with different physical properties. Some stainless steel has a high chromium content with little or no nickel, which allows the alloy to retain magnetic properties. However, some stainless steels have higher chromium content with nickel added for strength and durability. Our recommendations are to never allow a magnet to adhere directly to the surface of stainless steel as it can cause scratching due to the surface of the magnets often being rough and hard. It's always recommended that there be something between the magnet and the raw surface of your refrigerator if you are going to use them.
