how is the griddle removed for standard cooking null

It is lifted off the top of the stove. It rest on the burners on the right side. The grate is underneath it.

Hello, they would uninstall from the hinge receiver. To install the grates, align the hinge receiver on the back of the grate to hinge near the rear of the cooktop. Each grate only fits properly in one location. NOTE: Non-hinged models align grate feet to dimples on cooktop surface. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.
