Not normal. Ours smells fantastic compared to our last one. I would say use the cleaner pods and check your water hardness..... Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't use pods. It is recommended to use high concentration detergent, and I use Method 4x concentrate, Spring Garden. I put it in the dispenser provided. I have had no problem with any smell at all. I also leave the top open to air it out, per instructions, when not in use.
