I looked it up on the Whirlpool site and the decibel rating is listed at 46...so disappointing.

I can tell you that I have a wall between my kitchen and living room that does not go much higher than the height of the refrigerator (some small cabinets above it). The dishwasher is on the opposite wall. My kitchen and living room and dining area are pretty open and the "rooms" are rather small. We do not hear the dishwasher much until it "washes" and it is not loud enough that it interferes with the TV volume at all. It really is a quiet dishwasher. For comparison, I have a Rubbermaid commercial vacuum cleaner that is much quieter than most vacuums and it is 70 decibels. Hope this helps.
