QuestionWhat does "convertible" venting style mean?

- Answer Convertible means it can vent through the wall or ceiling using a duct, or can be converted to non-venting (filters the air and blows it back into the kitchen) with Recirculation Kit Part Number W10294733 which is available from your dealer or an authorized parts distributor.

- Answer Model GXW6530DXS is a wall mount canopy. This cannot be installed over an island.

QuestionWhat are the noise levels for this hood for all three settings?Most hoods i have seen provide noise levels (in dbs) for each or atleast the highest fan level. What are the noise levels for this hood?

- Answer Dear Customer: Unfortunately we do not have the decibel rating for each level. When the fan is at the highest level it has been rated at 7.2 sones, or approximately 54 decibels. Thank you for your interest in a Whirlpool range hood!

QuestionI have a 10 foot ceiling in my kitchen. Will this hood reach the ceiling or do I need to buy an extension kit? Where can I buy the kit?

- Answer According to the manual, it will reach to 9'5". To go higher, you need the Stainless Steel Chimney Extension Kit Part Number W10294735 which is available from your dealer or an authorized parts distributor. The chimney extension replaces the upper chimney shipped with the range hood.

QuestionCan this be installed with a low ceiling?I would like to put this in my basement kitchen but it has a low ceiling of 6' 10 inches. It will be vented to the outside but I cannot raise the ceiling as it the basement and the main floor is just above the ceiling. Can I use this range hood in my basement kitchen?? Thanks, Catherine

- Answer Hello, Catherine! We recommend that this vented hood be installed in an area with ceilings between 7'4" and 9'9" as the hood will need to be at least 24" above an electric cooking surface, and 27" above a gas cooking surface. Thank you for your interest in a Whirlpool vent hood!

QuestionSwitch issuethe medium and high switches do not work, in fact they turn the fan off. I can not find a troubleshooting list in the manual or on the internet that does not charge. Where can I find help/suggestions for my carpenter/electrician?

Questionmounting under cabinetWe are planning in installing this under an "over the oven" cabinet (30" wide 18" tall). What is the shortest lenght the vent can be cut too? I understand it has to sit at least 27" above a gas stove, however according to the diagram, it says the vent has to be 27 inches as well? this puts our cabinet way above the 36" tall side cabinets. Please advise thanks!
