Q: What does "convertible" venting style mean?
A: Convertible means it can vent through the wall or ceiling using a duct, or can be converted to non-venting (filters the air and blows it back into the kitchen) with Recirculation Kit Part Number W10294733 which is available from your dealer or an authorized parts distributor.
Q: Does this model have to be mounted to a wall or can it hang over a kitchen island cooktop
A: Model GXW6530DXS is a wall mount canopy. This cannot be installed over an island.
Q: Is the top part of the air filter telescopic or adjustable in height or is it a set height?

A: Dear Customer: Unfortunately we do not have the decibel rating for each level. When the fan is at the highest level it has been rated at 7.2 sones, or approximately 54 decibels. Thank you for your interest in a Whirlpool range hood!

Q: can this vent to the side of the building or does it have to vent to the roof?
A: This model can be vented through wither the wall or ceiling.
A: According to the manual, it will reach to 9'5". To go higher, you need the Stainless Steel Chimney Extension Kit Part Number W10294735 which is available from your dealer or an authorized parts distributor. The chimney extension replaces the upper chimney shipped with the range hood.
Q: Can this be installed with a low ceiling?
A: Hello, Catherine! We recommend that this vented hood be installed in an area with ceilings between 7'4" and 9'9" as the hood will need to be at least 24" above an electric cooking surface, and 27" above a gas cooking surface. Thank you for your interest in a Whirlpool vent hood!
