  • QuestionWhat Litter is the Best to use with the Litter-Robot 4?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer A clay litter type. I've noticed normal Lightweight 4-1 Protection clumping litter still does't clump quick enough and has more dust than preferred (I have attached a picture from the very first use. The top right you'll notice a smear.) They recommend using their premium litter and I do not disagree; it is more expensive but this device uses SO MUCH LESS litter than scooping normally that the price is worth it to keep a cleaner box!

  • QuestionHow often do you clean the litter box? Do you have to remove parts? Is it easy to clean? Do you have a video of cleaning the litter box?

    Asked by Cleaning.

    • Answer The time to empty the waste tray depends on how many cats you have using it and how often they go. You monitor the waste levels on the whisker app, but it took our 1 cat about 2-3 weeks to fill up the waste tray. If you don't use the app, I suppose you could just open the tray up periodically to see how full it is. Once it's full, you just pull out the tray, remove the bag with the waste in it, and throw it away. Put in a new bag and you're good to go again. You don't have to disassemble anything to do this. The tray simply slides in and out. Cleaning is easy too. Just wipe away any soiled areas with a cleaning wipe. Waste from the tray could potentially get caught if the levels are too high when pulling the tray out and then you have to clean whatever falls out. The lasers can get dusty as well and you can just wipe them with a dry cloth and pass a vacuum over them. I think the website has some videos of how the box is cleaned, otherwise I'm sure YouTube does as well. Hope that helps!

  • QuestionWhat litter is recommended?

    Asked by Heather.

    • Answer Any litter that clumps. Traditional clay litter and silica litter like pretty litter will work fine. The litter robot 4 sifts the litter through relatively fine holes so as long as it can fit through those holes like pretty much any standard litter at a pet store, you’ll be fine.

  • QuestionHow long will the odor filter work for? And how can you tell when it needs to be replaced?

    Asked by Edward.

    • Answer Hi Eddd, Thanks a lot for your question! Typically, the carbon filter should be replaced about once a month, but it really depends on how often your kitties use the Litter-Robot. You might find that you need to change it more or less frequently depending on how many kitties are using the unit, how often they use it, or any health concerns that might mean changing it sooner. Just take a look at the carbon filter—if it smells a bit off, looks dirty, or it’s been over a month since the last change, it’s probably time to replace it. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to our customer service team—we’re always happy to help! - Warmly, Whisker

  • QuestionDo it need to be on a hard surface

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer If you want to use the scale feature to keep tabs on your cat(s)’ weight, then you do want it on a hard surface. If you don’t mind not using that feature, then it’s fine on carpet or other softer surfaces.

  • QuestionLitter robot 4 has started to randomly dump all the kitty litter. The unit is about 6 months old. What would cause that?

    Asked by MOT.

    • Answer Hi there! It is possible that your unit could be overfilled with litter. The unit will dump any excess litter above the line during the cycle process. Please ensure your litter is filled at least 1/4in below the fill line. If you are using a heavier litter, we recommend 1/2in below the fill line. If it’s not overfilled, it’s possible the sifting screen is damaged. Please inspect the inside and outside of the globe for any possible damage. If the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to our Customer Service team as they would be eager to assist you.
